Internet Service Providers in Brazil

Brazil is among the largest countries in the world, therefore it is common that even the main internet service providers, or ISPs, do not offer full coverage countrywide.

Currently the country has 25.23 million fixed broadband subscriptions, present in around 38% of households. These users are concentrated mainly in the Southeast and South regions states, with around 19 million users combined.

Largest Internet Providers

Below you will find a list of the main providers available in Brazil according to ANATEL, which holds almost 90% of all the subscriptions in the country, with coverage in the main capitals and metropolitan regions.

Algar Telecom

Algar Telecom is available to the West of the state of Minas Gerais, North of São Paulo and selected cities in Goiás. Up until August 2015 the company registered around 444 thousand subscriptions, with a market share of 1.76%. Depending on the contracted plan, the connection speeds can reach 20 Mbps for individuals and 200 Mbps for businesses.

Oi

Oi is the second largest provider in Brazil with 6.5 million subscriptions, corresponding to around 25.5% of market share. This ISP has coverage in all regions in Brazil and is present in most states except São Paulo, the largest market in the country. The connection speeds offered can reach up to 35 Mbps in determined plans.

Sky

Sky Internet is available in most of the Brazilian states, although only in selected cities within each state, currently with 216 thousand subscriptions. This provider offers internet services via 4G connection, with speeds of 2 Mbps and 4 Mbps. Sky does not have corporate plans.

Live TIM

Live TIM has coverage only in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, offering internet services with optical fiber technology with connection speeds ranging from 35 Mbps to 1 Gbps for individuals and 50 Mbps to 90 Mbps for businesses. Currently this provider has 206.3 thousand subscriptions, with 0.82% of market share.

Vivo

Vivo is already operating in several states in Brazil offering household internet connection via 4G technology. However landline services are available only in the state of São Paulo, which includes optical fiber, providing connection speeds of up to 200 Mbps in the most advanced plan. Vivo has around 4 million subscribers, with a market share of 26.24%.

NET Virtua

NET is currently the largest ISP in Brazil, holding 32% alone of the total internet subscribers in the country. Covering all the regions, it is present in most states, except Acre, Sergipe, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. NET Virtua offers connection speeds ranging from 2 Mbps to 500 Mbps, also via optical fiber technology in specific locations.

GVT

GVT owns the most modern landline internet infrastructure in Brazil, covering the entire country except the North region. Recently, this ISP was acquired by Telefónica, a holding of Vivo, which will merge both systems into a single one in the future. GVT offers connection speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

Regional Internet Providers

We have also compiled a list of the regional ISPs, available in areas which are sometimes not covered by the major providers. In these cases the services tend to be limited and the broadband speed has an average 10 Mbps. However some users prefer to use an alternative ISP due to practicality and less bureaucracy related to customer service. Most of the ISPs listed below offer corporate and private internet connection.

Pará / Amapá

Interconect - available in the metropolitan region of the city of Belém in the state of Pará, offering connection speeds of up to 72 Mbps.

Você Telecom - covering the cities of Macapá and Santana in the state of Amapá, this provider offers connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps via optical fiber technology.

Pronto Net - one of the main ISP’s in the Amazon region, mainly in Belém and Macapá, in the state of Amapá. The company offers internet connection via fiber, cables and radio to both corporate and private clients.

Minas Gerais

ValeNet - located in the region of the city of Buritis, the provider also covers the city of Cabeceiras in the state of Goiás, focused mainly on rural clients. The company offers broadband internet via radio with a speed of 1 Mbps.

WiBand- this provider attends the region of the city of Santa Bárbara, including the cities of Alvinópolis, Barão dos Cocais, Caeté, Catas Altas, João Monlevade, Nova União, Sabará and Taquaraçu de Minas. The connection speeds offered range from 1 Mbps and 10 Mbps, both for corporate and private clients.

WKVE Telecom - covering most of cities in the East and Southeast regions of the state, including Governador Valadares, Ouro Preto, Congonhas, Jequitinhonha, Teófilo Otoni and Montes Claros. Offers connection speeds ranging from 300 Kbps and 1 Mbps.

Provernet - this provider covers several cities in the metropolitan region of the city of Belo Horizonte including Santa Luzia, Vespasiano, Ribeirão das Neves and São José de Almeida, with connection speeds from 1 Mbps to 3 Mbps.

Netcetera - offering plans with speeds of up to 25 Mbps, the provider mainly covers upstate, usually in small cities.

Conecta Minas - available in larger cities in the state such as Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto and Conselheiro Lafaiete and the surrounding areas, this provider offers connection from 5 Mbps to 100 Mbps, with the option for fiber technology on faster connections.

R7 Telecom - this ISP offers connection speeds of up to 10 Mbps and several plan options. R7 Telecom is available in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Sabará and Santa Luzia.

Justweb Telecomunicações - covering the cities of Justinópolis, Santa Luzia, Ribeirão das Neves and Vespasiano, this provider offers plans from 2MB to 5MB for both corporate and individual clients.

Axtelecom - available in the region of Poços de Caldas, Pouso Alegre and Alfenas, using cable, radio and fiber technology, offering connection speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

CEMIG Telecom - this provider offers optical fiber infrastructure with circuits with speeds of up to 622 Mbps to corporate clients, and is available in all states of Minas Gerais.

Brasília

Logtel Telecom - covering most of the city of Brasília and the Cristalina region, this provider offers plans to corporate and individual clients, and also dedicated links.

Paraíba

BR27 Tecnologia - this provider is available mainly in the state of Paraíba, but also covering some cities in São Paulo and Sergipe, offering connection speeds from 1 Mbps to 100 Mbps using optical fiber technology.

Tely - covering the main cities in the state of Paraíba, including the capital João Pessoa, this provider offers connection speeds from 10 Mbps to 60 Mbps for individual and corporate clients.

Enter IW - offering plans only to private clients, Enter IW covers the cities of São José do Rio do Peixe, Triunfo, Poço de José de Moura, Uiraúna, Bernardino Batista and Poço Dantas. This provider offers radio and cable technology, with speeds from 512 Kbps to 2 Mbps for radio and reaching up to 3 Mbps for cable.

Rio Grande do Sul

Tchê Turbo - available mainly in the the city Frederico Westphalen, including some cities in upstate Santa Catarina and Paraná, such as Pinhalzinho, Chapecó, Xanxerê and Dionísio Cerqueira. This provider offers plan for corporate clients, ranging from 5 Mbps to 100 Mbps, and private clients, ranging from 600 Kbps to 4 Mbps.

Tri Internet - this provider only offers internet services for private clients, with connection speeds of up to 25 Mbps using optical fiber. Tri Internet covers the main regions in several cities including Porto Alegre, Cachoeirinha, Alvorada and Viamão.

Mhnet Telecom - covering the North region of Rio Grande do Sul and the West of the state of Santa Catarina, this provider offers internet services via radio and optical fiber with speeds of 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps for households and 10 Mbps and 15 Mbps for corporate plans.

CertelNET - covering the main cities upstate, this provider offers radio and optical fiber internet with connections of up to 10 Mbps for individuals and 15 Mbps for corporate clients.

Giga Internet - offering connection speeds of up to 10 Mbps using digital radio technology, this provider covers the cities of Gramado, Canela, Três Coroas, Esteio and Sapucaia do Sul.

Webmax Internet - this provider offers internet services in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, with connection speeds of up to 3 Mbps.

Sebratel Internet - available in 20 main cities in the state such as Triunfo, Gramado, São Leopoldo and Taquara, this ISP offers connection speeds of up to 20 Mbps and dedicated links for corporate plans.

Guaíba Telecom - the provider offers broadband connection to the cities of Porto Alegre, Guaíba, Eldorado do Sul, Barra do Ribeiro and Sertão Santana.

GTC Telecom - offering internet connection through radio and optical fiber, this provider has plans with speeds up to 3 Mbps for both individual and corporate clients.

Naja Telecomunicações - this provider offers internet connection via radio with connection speeds from 256 Kbps to 10 Mbps, covering cities such as Flores da Cunha, Caxias do Sul, Farroupilha, Vacaria and Villa Maria.

Paraná

Sercomtel - one of the main providers in the state, Sercomtel is available in several cities including the metropolitan region of Londrina. Through a partnership with Copel it is able to extend its coverage to most cities in Paraná.

Copel Telecom - available in 399 municipalities with optical fiber connection, Copel offer connection speeds from 20 Mbps to 100 Mbps for individuals and only 100 Mbps for corporate clients.

CTBA Telecom - covers the cities of Curitiba, Araucária, Lapa, Guaratuba and Quitandinha. This provider offers connection speeds from 5 Mbps to 25 Mbps, with the option for optical fiber in the area where the technology is available. There are no plans available for corporate clients.

Sitnet Provider - available in some neighbourhoods of the metropolitan region of the city of Curitiba, Sitnet Provider offer plans with connection speeds of up to 20 Mbps for corporate clients and 15 Mbps for individuals, using radio technology.

Santa Catarina

Sul! Internet - this provider offers connection speeds of up to 4 Mbps, with special packages for corporate clients, to several cities in Santa Catarina and Paraná such as Joinville, Balneário Camboriú, Curitiba and Paranaguá.

Unifique - available in most regions of the state, the provider uses radio and optical fiber technology to offer internet services for both individuals, with speeds ranging from 600 Kbps to 2 Mbps, and corporate clients with speeds of 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps.

Ceará

Multiplay Telecom - covering mainly the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, this provider offers connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps, using coaxial cable and optical fiber.

Mob Telecom - this provider offers internet services in more than 30 municipalities in the state, and partial coverage in others like Pará, Bahia, Piauí and Maranhão, using both radio and optical fiber technology.

Arena Net - covering the region surrounding the city of Limoeiro do Norte, this provider offers internet connection with radio and optical fiber technologies, with connection speeds reaching 10 Mbps.

AtualNet Telecom - this provider offers internet services to upstate cities, including a few in the state of Paraíba, with plans up to 20 Mbps.

Rio de Janeiro

West - available in the cities of Teresópolis, Cabo Frio, Arraial do Cabo, Búzios and other 11 cities, West is the main provider in the region with connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps. The company also provides corporate plans in partnership with DATACOM.

FHP Internet - offers broadband connection at speeds that range from 35 Mbps to 100 Mbps to the suburban areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Mundivox - covering only the city of Rio de Janeiro, Mundivox offers broadband connection via optical fiber technology, with connection speeds of up to 16 Mbps for households and flexible solutions for corporate clients.

Brasilnet - this ISP is available in the cities of Cantagalo, Bom Jardim, Cordeiro, Duas Barras and Santa Maria Madalena, and also in a few municipalities in the states of Paraná and Minas Gerais, with connection speeds of up to 20 Mbps, depending on the location.

Viamar Telecom - operating only in the city of Cabo Frio, this provider offers connection via radio and fiber technology, with speeds that range from 1 Mbps to 40 Mbps depending on the plan.

Amazonas

Alfa Telecom - this provider offers internet services using optical fiber technology for connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps, covering the metropolitan region of Manaus and a few surrounding areas.

Rio Grande do Norte

Cabo Telecom - Covers the city of Natal and surrounding areas with connection speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to 50 Mbps.

Brisanet - provides internet services to the main regions in upstate Rio Grande do Norte, and also in other states such as Ceará and Paraíba, with radio technology for connection speeds of up to 3 Mbps.

Pernambuco

PierNet Telecom - using radio and optical fiber technologies, this provider offers internet services to the metropolitan region of Recife and municipalities on the coastline, with connection speeds of up to 15 Mbps. PierNet does not have specific plans for corporate clients.

Sim TV - this provider is available in several states in the country besides Pernambuco, including Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, with connection speeds ranging from 1 Mbps to 20 Mbps.

Vescnet - available in the metropolitan region of the city of Recife and surrounding areas, providing internet services with optical fiber technology in specific locations.

São Paulo

SCW Telecom - using radio and optical fiber technology, this provider offers services for the city of São Carlos and surrounding areas, reaching a connection speed of up to 5 Mbps.

WiNet Telecom - offers coverage to the cities of Guarulhos, Suzano and Itaquaquecetuba with internet services for individuals and corporate clients, with connection speeds of up to 4 Mbps.

Vmax Telecom - available in the main upstate cities in São Paulo, such as Campinas, Atibaia, Itatiba and Piracicaba, offering connections of up to 5 Mbps, depending on availability. Speed for corporate plans can reach fixed 10 Mbps.

Uoow - this ISP offers connection speeds up to 20 Mbps for both residential and corporate clients, covering the region of Limeira city.

Assim - this provider covers the Southwest of the state, including the cities of Presidente Prudente, Piquerobi, Santo Expedito and Alfredo Marcondes, also using fiber technology for connection speeds of 20 Mbps.

Network Telecomunicações - provides internet connection to the city of Limeira, with connection plans for households and corporate clients.

Futuronet - the company uses radio and optical fiber technology with connection speeds of up to 50 Mbps, depending on the plan and location. Futuronet covers the city of Amparo.

Cabonnet - covers 27 cities in the state, including Assis, Bastos, Presidente Prudente, Taubaté, Osasco and Pindamonhangaba, with radio, cable and fiber technologies, available in selected locations, with speeds up to 50 Mbps.

w2i Telecom - their services are available in the cities of Guarulhos, Itaquaquecetuba, Mogi das Cruzes, Suzano, Poá and Ferraz de Vasconcelos, with connection speeds of up to 4 Mbps for individuals and 10 Mbps for corporate subscribers.

Net Turbo Telecom - present mainly in the metropolitan region of Campinas, this provider is also available in other locations in the state with radio and optical fiber technology with speeds up to 30 Mbps.

Conexão Telecom - operating mainly in São Paulo, this provider is also present in selected cities in the state of Minas Gerais, with options for optical fiber technology. The connection speed can reach up to 20 Mbps in households and 50 Mbps for corporate clients.

IDC Telecom - covering the main cities in São Paulo’s metropolitan region such as Suzano, Mogi das Cruzes, Itaquaquecetuba and Guararema, offering broadband connection with speeds up to 10 Mbps.

On Telecom - offers internet services via 4G technology with connection speeds of up to 15 Mbps, with limited data packages. On Telecom is available in 133 cities upstate, including Itatiba, Vinhedo, Valinhos and Louveira.
